Hey guys, what would cause my sx700 to flood while just ditting in the trailer. Started right up when i put it in there, pulled it 20 miles, let it sit a week, went to start it again and it was flooded to the gills. Its never done it before. How would gas get past the fuel pump and needle&seats? It starts right up now and runs great, but i would like to prevent it from happening again. Thanks, mike

Fuel pump is free flowing, I would add a fuel shut off.

Thanks mark. How is it pushing past the needle and seat tho? And why all of the sudden? Ive had it prolly 4 years, never did it before

needle/seats or float settings.

I had this happen to mine last year I thought it was a needle and seat problem. I replaced them and clean the carb but was still doing it. Found that the diafram in the fuel pump came apart and would flood the center cylinder through the pulse line.

As stated above you diagram is messed up which is causing the pump to free flow...

my viper did this new if it had a full tank on a longer trailer trip. adjusted float and added fuel shut off at the same time. never an issue after that.

AFU pump
Improperly adjusted floats
Pinched vent
Am immediate prevention measure would be to slightly loosen your fuel cap while it is sitting. That way the tank doesn't get pressurized when it gets warm.

EXACT same thing happened to me. Put a new (used) fuel pump on it. Problem solved. I think it was going through the suction line to the case and filling that way. totally bypasses the carbs (needles, seats & floats). Id say put a new or used pump on it and a shutoff...

all right guys. was thinking it was the fuel pump. i grabbed one from my brother yesterday, but its from an srx. i see they have different letters at the beginning of the part #. mine being 8ch. and the srx being 8df. rest of the part # is the same. will this pump work on my sled??? ive been told to run it, but would like to hear from you guys first. thank you all very much. and to yamahamark, ....where are you at?? what town are you from??

Pretty sure it's the same. I think the only difference is the Ch and DF.

Be sure to clean your carbs also as the plastic pieces of the diafram with be stuck in the screens for the float needles

yamaha recommends to trailer your sled with less than half a tank to prevent this.
