Hi guys my wife has a 2005 venture 600 it only has 2200 Kms on it but I notice that when you hit the throttle there seems to be resistance to movement. I checked idler bearings and put on a set of sliders and still seems to take too much throttle to get her going. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thx

Clean clutches, Is track to tight or off centered, is chain to tight. What is it engaging at?
Thx for the reply Yamahamark, I cleaned the clutches and engagement is around 4k. The track is actually a little loose, I haven't checked the chain case yet. Do these sleds just seem to have more drag than others?
Again thx for your help.

Engagement is good and if its dragging some it's most likely tight chain or a sticky bearing.
Thx again, I am going to adjust the chain tension and put in new gear oil. Hopefully that solves the issue. is it worth opening up the chain case?

Yes because then you can gets a good look at how the chain and gears are looking and see if there is any damage to them and what gear ratio you have. Also makes adjusting tension easier as you can see how tight or loose it is.
You want just a little play in it. Not to loose or chain will slip and cause damage and to tight can break and cause more damage especially at high speeds.

Does it seem to come to a stop quicker than what you feel it should?

You never mentioned about snow conditions,if you were parked on the street etc! Lift up the back end and see what if anything might be out of kilter, probably not.Resistance is a thing of beauty probably nothing wrong,if it's warm outside this will cause a dragging who knows?
