Hi! This is my very first post on this forum. 
And.....I need some help. I have a 1997 Vmax XTC without reverse or estart. A local guy is parting out the exact sled with estart and reverse. I want to buy the estart off of him but I am unsure of what parts I would require to make it work. My key clicks over to the right as an estart would. Do I need just the starter and the connecting wires or do I need the geared fly wheel and ....????

You need the starter the connecting wires and the gear off the primary your sled has everything else you need.

Also need the battery holder if you don't have one.

That is kinda ironic because I also have a 97 vmax except mine is the sx.

X2. For the reverse you need all the guts and cover with reverse lever. The back of case is the same. E start you need battery, tray, starter, starter harness, ring gear off back of primary clutch, and relay lead.
