Hey guys I know this question has probably been asked a million times but here we go, I have a 98 SRX 700 and the hand and thumb warmers worked amazing last season, took it out for the first time this year and neither the thumb or hand warmers are working....does anyone know why nothing is happening???? I traced all the wiring from the hand and thumb warmers right down to the resistor beside the CDI and everything looks good no bad wires.

Are the resistors or heat control known to go over time when sitting for a long time?????
Any help on the subject will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Get yourself a volt metre so you can do some tracing of the circuit, plus it will have the capability to test the resistance of a few components. Yes the dial control can go bad,I had one go on me last season.First thing to check is to verify you have voltage at the plug connectors for the grips and thumb warmer, these are under your bar pad and should be easy to find.Start the engine and test the voltage at the grip connector plugs and the thumb connector, should be around 12v AC at idle if I remember right. If your voltage checks out then start using the metre to test the resistance of the individual components. The grips should ohm out between 1.5 to 1.9 ohms at room temperature and the thumb is something like 70 ohms I think. The dial is measured across the Yellow/White wire to the Black/Red wire and it will measure between 400 to 600 ohms.
