Here we go, 1997 Vmax sx 600, bleed cooling system after fixing cooler. Temp light flashes non stop from the minute you start it up and doesn't stop looks like 1 long flash and 3 short. Checked sensor with new one, did resistance test back to cdi, all good. Any help would be great as i would like to know if it ever was really over heating.

Believe or or not, check the wires leading into the plug for the sensor. They can break and cause the exact situation your experiencing. They can make false contact when you ohm or test resistance, but fail with the engine vibration. There was enough issues with this that yamaha actually once made a fix kit for it but I doubt its any longer available. Last one I did had the part #8EK-TSCON-KT-00. Why I saved the package is beyond me.
With the engine running, and an extra observer to assist, wiggle the wires at the connector and see if your light goes off. Usually this will tell you if its a connection issue at the plug and just takes a minute. Wiggle gently and push towards the connector.
