So next weekend I will be hopefully trying out some WOT runs on my 99SRX. So far I've had 250kms of good trouble free mileage (knock on wood). Sled runs well, idles good, no fouled plugs, it's using oil and a ton of fuel lol.
Just picked it up this season and have done quite a bit so far. I've gone through the m10 skid changing all the wheel bearings, new hyfax's, changed all the jackshaft and driveshaft bearings from end to end, new chaincase oil obviously, full tank of yamalube, premium fuel, all new exhaust donuts, all new power valve gaskets and o rings as well as a good cleaning, new spark plug caps, and a new air filter element.
I have a couple sets of new spark plugs to take readings off of after the passes. I'm basically gonna make a fresh packed trail on the lake. Once I have some hard pack I'm gonna change the plugs and give er! Gonna do a 660' pull and read the plugs. If all goes well I'll go for a longer distance and see how fast she goes.
I'm familiar with reading plugs on a race engine (4 stroke) but not a 2 stroke. Also not sure if there's anything I should tear into or check out before I give er. I have not fully taken apart the carbs but when I had the air box off there was no crap in them from what I could see and they appeared very clean. Obviously this doesn't mean much but like I said I have not torn into them yet. I can only assume they are completely stock. the engine is completely stock as well other than a bender can.
Looking for some do and dont's, check this first, make sure you do this or that type of stuff etc etc.
if anyone has pics of an ideal plug after a wot pull that would be sweet if you could post it. Thanks guys!
Wanna see what this monster does before I clutch it...mr viper (thank you sir) has provided me with a setup that I will be trying out after I see what she does as is.

I'd clean the carbs befor doing WOT runs. That's when they blow up. Plus then you'll know what jets are in it. And you might be too lean for your current temps.

I hear ya! As far as takin em apart and cleaning em goes....new gaskets? I've done carbs in cars before (I drag race), all Holley blue reusable gaskets lol.

No gaskets, (except the top cap that I've never replaced) All rubber o-rings, that are reusable. Just make sure the one on the needle/seat is not brittle(under the float). Make sure the pilot jets are clean. The fuel screws have very tiny rubber o-rings, tiny washers and springs. And the main jet needle has some tiny plastic washers.

Also, do you're self a favor and get (12) M4x12mm or 14mm -0.7pitch Allen head cap screws for the float bowls. So much better than the Phillips that strip so easily
