Hi all,

I'm new to this site and first and foremost - what a WEALTH of info! I recently purchased a 2003 SX Mountain Viper 700 in really good condition. It has a 144" track and the Proaction suspension. I used BETHEVIPER's suspension tuning article to set it up to transfer properly, but am thinking about stretching it out a bit and changing the rear skid. Here are my questions:

1. I see that I can buy rail extensions to lengthen the track out. Is this a good idea or should I get a longer skid? How long should I go if I use the rail extensions?

2. I've heard good and bad about the proaction suspension, I was looking at upgrading to the promountain suspension but I've read many posts saying they are hard to find and there are better suspensions to be had...should I keep the proaction skid or look for something else?

3. What other skids will fit and are worth considering? Will a nytro mtx skid fit? Is it a direct fit? How about an Apex skid?

4. Is there an ideal track length for the mountain viper setup? Mostly deep powder riding, some trails. How long can I go before needing to re-gear?

I'm a mechanic and love to tinker, but I don't want to chop the sled up so I'm really interested in finding something that is as close to a direct fit as possible.

Thanks!!
