Towing with a 04 Yamaha VK540 III

just wondering, when towing with a VK540, how much weight does the load have to be to put it in low? If pulling a small sled with an auger and fishing gear etc would you stay in drive or put it in low? Same question for a snow coach with 3 kids.

I would say put it in low if towing something really heavy for example a load of wood. Leave it in drive for the auger and fishing gear and pulling the kids as they don't weight all that much.

If your towing an ice shanty I would probably put it in low if its heavy.

only time ours goes into low is when we are pulling whole logs with it.
