Just passed 31000km on my enticer II. I think the secondary spring is the issue, but would like some input. Machine is all stock, primary and secondary. With 5 washers in secondary, the belt still sits 1/4" below top of sheeves. Sled always feels like it is one gear too tall. Engine will bog out on hill climbs, rather than lose traction. Bearings and chaincase in smooth working order. Am I heading down the right track with a secondary spring replacement?

Have you cleaned the carbs and checked compression?
With the belt down in the secondary it's almost like taking off in second gear witch makes feel like to tall of a gear. You wanna get that belt above secondary.

Carb is clean, compression and pressure test is good. A spring that has lost its boing, would leave that secondary open too much for the belt to sit low right?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace both primary and secondary springs as they do loose strength over time and those are probably the original springs.

It sounds like your belt is shot. The belt should be flush with the top of the secondary sheave. Chances are the buttons and bushings are wore out in the secondary too. $45 for a new OEM yami belt, $50 for the new secondary/helix bushing, $5 for aftermarket buttons.

i actually had that problem with mine and a new primary spring with a cleaning perked mine right up.

I have tried ordering primary and secondary spring from local Yamaha dealer, and I have been told the springs are discontinued. How should I proceed with aftermarket, what works?
Thanks!

i am running into the same problem here with mine. dealer is currently looking for an aftermarket one with same specs for me. if not, might try a rx1 primary on there if the taper is the same.

Got a headlight pod(NOS)for my fathers 1996 ET410II last month of Ebay.Theres enough NOS parts on there to build a complete sled(Just very pricey with our dollar in the toilet:o|).

Had similar issue on my venture not sure if the enticer is the same. On the venture and phazer to adjust the belt ride height there is 2 shims between the secondary sheaves. You can move one or both shims to the back side of the sheaves by the spring. This allows the sheaves to come closer together and let's the belt ride higher and gets it back to the lower gear start feeling. There was some specs in the owners manual for belt wear to shim placement limits. Be sure to put the shims back between the sheaves with a new belt. Moving the shims helped with mine.
