Vmax sx clutching

Hey guys just bought 1999 vmax sx 500 riding around the yard noticed when I'm on throttle and let off it drops to about 3000 rpm's then go to give it throttle it doesn't go until I hit break and rpm drop to 2500 then it take off again. It has a bender secondary any ideas?

Give the clutches a good cleaning and give the carbs a good cleaning as well.
Does it run fine other than this? What's it engaging at?

Runs good other than that

Clean the clutches and carbs also check and make sure the belt is riding properly in the secondary.
If you have to hit the break to get rpm's down I would say its a clutching problem and the primary is sticking.

What's best way to clean the clutch

Pull them a part check rollers and weight and spring and buttons in the secondary. Here's a few tips
