I have a full set of Bender trail ported cylinders for my SRX but 2 of them are in need of fixing. After giving my '01 a bit of a run last Friday night and then going out last Saturday with me on my '98 and my son on the '01 I come to the conclusion that I think it's time I had the ported cylinder fixed.I know it's not fair to compare a stock '98 to an already ported '01 but I just can't get over that feeling of the strong pull of the '01.My question is just how much jam will a set of ported cylinders actually give my '98? I can only hope that it will come close to the other sled, which also has bored carbs (35.5) and shaved heads.I really need more punch from this sled,I didn't fare so well against my buds 1200 four strokes Doo in a short drag race last year and I didn't like it.I know a longer run would most likely have produced a different result but I always prided myself on having the sled to beat, well I guess that time has come.

Your looking at 10 horse max. Safe porting is expensive for minimal gains at least on these sleds. Used Pipes and clutching is going to be best bang for your buck improvement.

I've got the ported cylinders already, I just need to send 2 of them away to be fixed.

If the cylinders are ported to the same specs as the 01 they should be the same. As long as you set it up the same with bored carbs , reeds and clutching. The biggest difference is going to be the rear suspension set up.

I need to clarify here. The cylinders are 8DN 00 for a 98/99 engine and are ported by Bender,it has their stamp and code on them. I know theses on my 98 won't give me the same punch as my ported 01,I'm just looking for enough to get back ahead of these 1200 4 strokes. My 98 has an Apex skid in it so there's that much more real estate to deal with as well.
