so, having issue with the air box i think, have a huge freaking bog in powder, sealed up my vents took off ram air tube, still has bog. Air box came out of carb boots four time now, put a bolt in the top to stop any movement and duck taped around, could get it really tight so i think it's off again doesn't run right. have reed spacers thinking it would push the box further back, but still had issue. any ideas? don't want to run pods as i go in alot of powder and also don't want to jet like crazy. can't figure out the bog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive read so much about it and no one has really found a solution or it's all about Vipers or SRX's. please help, going for hip surgery soon and want to run a couple more times before i go.
the top of the air box is bolted to to the frame, on top, under the steering. make sure its bolted ! also make sure its clamped down good on the carbs. I cant see any way it can come off. the bog stems from too much air getting in to the carbs....tighten things up.

Are your motor mounts good?

I would check clutch alignment and motor mount condition. sounds like your motor is moving too much. does it have reed spacers? This causes some alignment issues if you don't have bent steering post. Many will use spacers under the back of the motor to shim it up for the carbs to clear with spacers. If it has spacers, you will want to put something under your air box feet the same height to make it fit the carbs correctly. The hood will hit it a little sooner but it will still close and latch.

Check for big opening around your exhaust....in deep snow the exhaust will go into the pan and cause a bog

had a similar issue before.when you take the air box off, make sure to clean the boots to the carbs, and make sure they are dry before you reinstall it.if there is any oil left on the boots to the carbs they will slip off.had me going crazy, and i finally figured it out. the carbs spit oil back into the box, making the boots too slippery to hang onto the carbs.clean everything real good, and make sure that the boots, and carbs are dry when you put it back together.also, make sure the boots line up with the air box .there is a tab on the box,and the boots have a spot where the tab fits them.good luck.

Brian made a good point about oily boots. Remove and wash em in the sink w/ warm soapy water a few times. The carb flange gets cleaned w/ alcohol or alcohol pads.

Put a bolt in and it stopped it and duck taped it up, but still getting bog, cleaned them last time they were off, do have reed spacers but that all seems okay, it seems go be in powder but sometimes it will run good in powder for a but than bog, took off the air tube under the light and that vent up and shut my carb heater off and still doing it driving me nuts, it will clear it self up and that start doing it again, stop hammering on it in the powder and will clear up, even if I keep it full pin the bog starts and will keep going till I let off and float on top of the snow for bit

I had that happen last year, the carb boots came off, turned out 3 of 4 of my motor mounts were loose.
my sx always bogged in powder , could never figure it out especially if it was real cold and the snow was crystallized. It would just come in with the air. those 700 's are finicky when it comes to that! try tapeing off all air vents in the hood ...don't forget the very front ones in the nose!...good luck!

I got my carb boots super clean and then super glued them on. Had a terrible time keeping them on even after new motor mounts and checking everything good. Even burnt down the pto cylinder on a cold night with a boot slipping off. I haven't had problems for years now as super glue seems to bond rubber and aluminum very well.
