2000 srx tps sensor?

It's flashing 3 times after 5000 rpm, this is for a friend. 2 long and then 1 short, I think that's the tps from other threads I've looked at. Goes away at lower RPM. I sent them the correct adjustment/testing procedure. Is the TPS absolutely necessary or can they keep riding? They're in the middle of a trip right now. Will running it as is hurt anything? Thanks for any quick responses!

From what I can gather the TPS is part of the whole ignition circuit and when it's operating properly it alters the timing according to the throttle position, making it leaner at lower throttle opening and richer at wide open,I do believe. If he's that worried about the operation of the sled tell him to do a plug check at the wider open end of the throttle range to see how the colour is.If it ends up being lean then to be safe he'll have to stay out of the throttle and take it easy.

I run my 780 with without the tps hooked up and I've noticed no ill effects.

same here, although it's plugged in just not connected to the carbs. lol
I tried mine with it not plugged in at all and it ran like crap. Now I have it plugged in and locked at the full throttle setting.
TPS, has some function but very little imo.

So, if it's not effecting performance, ignore the flashing for now...that's what I'm getting. Right? And replace it when they get home.
