I purchased an extra 10 rear skid out of a 99 xc 700 sp and have completely rebuilt it. Was just wondering if any of you guys have done this swap into a srx 700, and what did you think of the ride? Was it worth it? Mine is a 121 with front and read fox shocks. I have a bad back and therefore a plush ride is top priority over any other concerns. So no jumping or racing in my future. Iv got the measurements to mount it but have not started the install as of now.

I haven't done it personally, but know of a couple that did. Ride was improved, but nowhere near what a newer skid can do. Your money would have been better spent on a newer skid which you can pick up for $400 or less. I would see if you can find a buyer for the Xtra (they are out there) and look for a newer skid.
Some of the ones with plush rides . . .
Yamaha Mono
SC10-3 or newer
R-Motion
Edge
M10
other too

Unfortunately with me budget speaks for all. Im on a fixed income and the newer skids are out of reach. I gues the question i should of asked is will a gabrial hydrolic shock ride smoother than the original position sensitive fox shock. I have both and kinda need to know soon as im ready to install it and unfortunately the skid at least the back half needs to be out of the sled for the rear shock to be installed.
Seriously guys? No one has done this? I just finished the first couple test rides and have gotten the limmiting straps and rear transfer blocks set up so im not launching the skis 2 feet skyward. Bout 6-8" off the ground at full traction launch .....perfect. but heres my problem. The skid came with a hydrolic Gabrial rear shock instead of the position sensitive rear fox shock that it was supposed to and with the rear springs set at the max pressure setting i easily bottom out. Was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a shock company that could custom build me a shock and propper rear springs for my 250lb weight and need for as soft a ride as possible without bottoming.

I think I understand that you have the Xtra-10 installed now but are having trouble with the skid bottoming out. I would find a similar Polaris sled to the SRX with a simlar weight that had the Xtra-10 in it stock. Seems like some of the triples fit this category. Get the stock spring rate for that setup and try to find a used gas shock/spring setup that matches (needs to be right length of course). Then have someone knowledgeable about shock valving and the Xtra-10 rebuild the shock with a stack that is fit to your riding style and weight.
Where is Dryden (I should know but can't remember). We can give you shock builders in your area.
Also there is likely a lot more help on a Polaris forum for the Xtra-10. Combine the info from both forums and you should get what you need.

Im in Dryden Which is half way between Winnipeg Manitoba and Thunderbay ON. We are 4 hours either way. The sled the extra 10 came out of was a 99 polaris xc700sp which Im assumming is pretty close in weight seeing as it was direct compition for the srx but my search for the " Position sensitive" fox shock, which was only made for that particular model, isnt going to be easy. I just thought finding an aftermarket company say Fast, or ryde fx may be pretty expensive but allot easier. Also this shock is not a coil over so I will also have to find a set of rear springs that are better for my weight. Again not easy. Id like to make 1 phone call, give all my pertanent info and have that company set me up with everything I need .....one stop shop....lol
