How to properly check lower rod bearings on the crankshaft 2000 SXR 700

I just picked up a 2000 SXR 700 with a blown motor for a summer project..The rod busted through the lower cases..One cylinder is junk (the same cylinder where the rod blew out).. the other two look great...looks like she leaned out on that cylinder........so I bought a lower end off ebay with crankshaft..It looks good but the rods have around 1.5mm side to side play ..I cant really feel any up or down movement but its hard to tell for sure..Just wondering what to look for..Thanks!

I was always told size to side OK, NO mov3ment up and down.

Thanks, thats what I thought....I cant really feel any up or down movement..they just seemed loose if you know what I mean...
