So what's the trick to installing a new water pump belt on a 78 SRX? New one seems pretty tight. Looks like it will tear if you try to tweak on it to fit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..... Thank you

you can ajust tension on that belt by loosening the four bolts that hold it on case. you will than be able to slide pump and take tension off if too tight. now a fyi, if that belt breaks or is not working your tach won,t work. 3:16x (yammie tony)

Yeah I'm trying to put a new belt on a fresh SRX motor and the OEM new belt seems to be extremely tight.... Any tricks on how to put it on?

there are a total of 4 bolts that need to be loosened up ( 2 on the top 2 on the bottom) slide the pump all the way up ..... if you bought a NOS belt it could have shrunk over the years ...new belts are the only way to go for tension you should have 2mm deflection if the belt is too tight it will just snap again

This may sound dumb but can you stretch a new old OEM belt so it will fit? Or better yet you have a part number for a new belt that will work? Thank you

That sounds like a good option. I have already broke 2 new old stock OEM belts. What would shipping be to 83445 ? PayPal ?
Thank you
