I have a 97 redhead here that I bought awhile back that I'm trying to start. It ran when I picked it up. I took the carbs out for a cleaning and to check jets. When I got then in it wouldn't start just flooded immediately.
I left it for a week and now came back to work some more. The ENTIRE crankcase is full of gas! Carbs out and Reed cage out I can see it there...
Does this happen with something wrong in the carbs or the fuel pump? I'm going to get a siphon to drain the case but I don't want to put it back together till I have figured where this drained from.

the o-rings around your float valves might be shot. The valve should fit snug in the hole, if it's loose you need to replace those o-rings.
Replace the inlet needles on the carbs..

For now I put on a spare fuel pump and set of carbs on the sled so it can be ridden tomorrow. I'll have to fix the other set for a spare now
