Hey guys
im rebuilding a viper engine. It melted the middle piston and damaged the middle cylinder. Crank looks good but I want to try and repack the bearings. I can easily do the outside ones that slide off and the two by the oil pump gear but I can't get at the 3 inside between rods #1 and #2. Anyone repack these crank bearings before and how much grease should I use? I got some white lithium grease picked up especially for bearings. Any help how be great! Thanks

You don't need to pack the bearings, 2 cycle oil lubes them.

Clean without any rough spots is what you need. Just run 2 stroke oil into the oil holes and rotate. Remember anything you put in the crankcase will go through the combustion chamber and hopefully get burned. Heavy grease is not so good for this. :-)

Only Ski-Doos with a 3500mi crank life need to have the bearings repacked. Shaggyzr2 and ding are correct. Oil 'em up.

^^ that's right skidoos have a sealed crank bearing design which require isoflex grease every 3500 miles or so. Its not necessary in these sleds

With that kind of damage I would be sending that crank out to see if it is still straight.
