New to the sight and would like some info on a 1976 Yamaha prestige 440 snowmobiles. I have 2 but not much info about them. What are they worth, finding parts. I know its all about condition but just a general rule.

Welcome!!!!
Don't have any info for you....but I suggest you post this in the vintage thread area...you will probably get better results there. Good luck!

Sorry .. I don't check site every day.... I only have two 76's but have an assorted 34 more of them . One came from MN and my good one from WI
near Hillsboro .... 75 TL433 and 76 PR440 have same engine , track , tunnel and susp ... 77 PR has involute track drive and other wise looks like the 76...
The radiator was enlarged in 76 because they added all the foam in hood and the dog house over engine ... notorious for over heating engine as the recoil
had a scoop and funnels in debris which stuff the mag side air shroud (so do mice)...
A few guys have them and the 76 didn't seem to make it to Canada ... lots of 75 and 77... since they have a limited build , they have limited value as
they are not nostalgic and they sure didn't race ...
What parts do you need ,,, the pivot fro shifter is often broken and tossed away and jammed in drive ,.... if not ,,, start cold in N,,, idle for a minute
and shut it off..... just as it is about to stop turning ,,click into Drive and start it again.... some times you can catch it and it will keep running ..
Normally it will start all day in Drive ... Need to shut it off or set brake as they will idle away on glare ice ....
I have paid a grand for one I really wanted in great shape ... paid 250 for a really bad 74 only to find one that looked like new on ebay
for under 400 two months later ... own them both... frames rust out ...
What do you need ???
They drive like an automatic car stuck in second and totally smooth as there is no engagement , no clutch lag up hills ... just pin it .... the belt makes a
whine louder than the muffler ... LOL
PM me sometime with email.
Ron
