Brand new battery put in sled (700 redhead) last November 2015. Only used one weekend in Feb. due to poor snow. Went to put away and battery was dead and bone dry. No visible sign of leakage or cracks. Any clues here??

I'd bring it back to where I bought it. Batteries typically have a 6 or 12 month warranty.
I would do the same.
