I understand that they are 144. If I cut some of the length off, will they fit the rails of my 97 VT 500? Is the profile the same? Also, is it hard to cut through the vespel material with an iron saw?

different profile.
Are there any dupont slides that will fit my VT 500?
What is the difference in the profile? Looks like the profile of stock sliders from the picture (the grooves that will go on the rail, right)?
Is the profile wider on the new models?

I still don't understand why the profile is different?
some of the 97 sleds used a narrower cross section than the newer sleds. one of my old tricks for getting sliders to last was to use the 97 narrow plastic on my rx war as they let more snow on them. they might actually fit on your sled but i would check that they fit in the track on the clips before you invest in the duponts. the stock plastic from an apex xtx is the same profile and width as the duponts and less cost for trying it in there.
