Guys,
I'm starting to restore a 1987 Yamaha exciter. Looking for a paint code, decals and maybe a seat cover that has the Yamaha on the side. I'm thinking the seat cover may be a long shot, but thought I would ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A good used seat isnt terribly hard to come by. They do pop up every once and a while, However there is a guy in Ontario that is doing reproduction seat covers with the "YAMAHA" on them. He may be able to help you out.
As far as paint code, Im not certain, but 2007 GM dark grey metallic is pretty close.
I actually had Exciter SX decals made and are available, but the same guy could make the 87 decals for about $250 U.S.D. I do have an 87 hood and panels that he could use for a template.

My decals aren't that bad, so I could likely get them done locally. I saw the guy from Ontario with other seats but want sure if he did these as well. Thanks on the paint code.

Is it all this color or certain parts of it? Is some of it black?

I cant recall off hand. I know my 88 has a black hood and headlight housing then the panels are a charcoal metallic.

has anyone ever replaced the pan on one of these? Can you get replacement one or drill out the rivets and start beating it back into place?

The pan is discontinued. Unless you find a parts sled that hasnt ever been ridden, you most likely wont find anything really worth swapping. Beating the one you have into shape is an option, or you could find an 89-93 plastic pan. The only draw back is you will have to trim your panels that have the steering arm boots or use the 89-93 pieces.
