Hey guys new to the forum here. My first sled as a kid was a 86 phazer and after wrecking my pro rmk last year and.deciding it wasn't worth the money to fix or buy a new one I have decided to start a build on my phazer that is new to me as of a month ago. It's seen better days as the body, and belly pan are beat! Sitting in a barn for who knows how long when I found it. However the motor is clean so it will do. My build will be In a few stages, first one being to make it rideable with a decent track to tractor around on. I work at a sled rental shop so I have newer sleds at my disposal and work on them all day long so this is for me to have a backup sled and also for my family to get into the cabin and to teach my nephews to ride. After stage one if it plans out well I'll make plans to restore the body work side of things and even more suspension upgrades.
Goals for build stage 1
38mm round slides
Aaen pipe (looking if anyone is selling)
3-5" taller bars
Better seat with storage
Pro or axys rmk running boards
151" track and skid I have from an 01 mountain cat
Gripper skis
Oil injection delete
Clear 2" track/ amazing approach angle (any one ever drop and roll or.have some insight? Do they make 6 tooth 2.52 drivers? )
Any other ideas that make these sleds better (open to any and all suggestions!)
Right now I'm looking for a good pipe as cheap as possible so if you have one laying around I have pay pal and would love to buy it!

Progress for today I got the motor out and washed up, discovered a few rats nest along the way! Also a shot of the track and skid and carbs I'll be using from my old thunder cat that lost the crank last year

Whole sled will be on a diet to drop as much weight as possible plus the track will be heavily ported to help it roll easier. We have some skidoo expedition 550s at work that I guide beginners through deeper snow on all the time and they spin a 154" and are a good 200# more than what this should be so I think it should do ok. I'll be gearing it as low as possible as well being it will be a tight woods sled and I have no use for a small sled like this that does over 35 mph got the track and skid pulled from the donor before calling it quits tonight. Should be able to get the phazer skid and track out tomorrow and load up the chassis to take it for a good cleaning before I start stripping weight and installu

pretty cool build i have jetting specs for see level on 38 rounds with a pipe i would recommend freshening up the motor with new seals and rings while you are at it a set of reeds and the sx piston cut plus depending on altitude different head gaskets

It will be ran at 7_9000 feet motor was rebuilt 500 miles ago so in gonna run it this year and do all the seals and sx cut next summer, what do you recommend for reeds?

Got the skid out of the phazer tonight. Looks like I'll have to pull the chain case to drop the axle ? Is that right? Should get a bit more time to tear it down the rest of the way tomorrow and start to clean the chassis up

you can leave the chain case in just pull the lower gear bolt and them undo the 3, 12mm head bolts on the speedo side and just slide the axle over ...........and you will need a 1-1/8'' socket for the speedo bearing

Got some more head way made! Skid and track etc, put of both machines. Currently waiting on 7 tooth drivers from western power sports after coming to the conclusion that 6 tooth 2.52 in the hex shaft didn't exist! But.I think the 7 tooth will do the job! Also waiting on some new.hifax
Planning to get the chassis loaded up and pressure washed tomorrow to start getting the tunnel ready to be extended, not sure how I'll do the extension yet I'd like to integrate the sides to have strap holds and maybe even a lip on top to hold things.
Still looking for a pipe if anyone reading this has one! Tia!

What head gaskets at what altitude ?I would recommend freshening up the motor with new seals and rings while you are at it a set of reeds and the SX piston cut plus depending on altitude different head gaskets.
