02 viper stock engine stock clutching. Ive been fiddling woth the idea of dropping teeth on the gearing. Doing a bit of homework ive read i need to adjust my clutching as well. So has anybody done something similar? I run a 1.22 ice attack xt track. I want some more snap out of the hole.

when gear a machine for less speed , but quicker acceleration, like you want to do, you have to be very careful not to develop a over rev. when that happens, you really hurt the sleds performance so you have to be careful. thats why you can,t make a drastic change. so yes when you start to play with gears, you might have to re clutch 3:16x (yammie tony)

sure you can gear it down, you will increase the low to midrange while taking away from the topend speeds. You will also need to either add weight to the clutch ramps or use a softer finish spring because when you gear a sled down, it removes load from the engine, allowing it to spin a higher rpm with same given clutch weight.
