Alright I've literally rebuild this whole sled. New pistons, rings, head gasket, and head. I've cleaned the carburetors in warm soap and water and blew everything down and out with compressed air. I've got a new coil on the machine. The T.O.R.S system has been snipped at the carburetors and tied into itself at the throttle lever. I've got what looks to be great spark. I'm getting fuel, and can't even get the thing to fire, just farts and back fires. I've check everything electrically that the service manual says to look at. I'm wondering if the CDI box is NFG and is sending spark at the wrong time? I've checked timing marks and they are bang on. Oil pump and fuel pump work. The crank seals are a couple years old and the pulse line to the fuel pump is working. I just can't seem to figure out what's wrong with this machine. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

You should be using carb cleaner to clean the carbs, soap and water will not dissolve that gunk you find in carbs. You could have some gunk in the carbs yet.

You likely have dirty blocked jets in your carbs as mentioned but if you put a cap full of good gas in each plug hole it should start .

The carbs are cleaned, I don't think it's a fuel delivery problem. What are the odds the CDI is out of it?

i had the cdi go on a et250. dump some gas down cylinders and see if it starts up briefly.

The TORRS has to be tied into each other at both ends as far as i know for the disconnect to work. You need to tie the carb ends together for the system to be properly bypassed. Kinda sounds like your symptoms are related to this issue.

Follow the TORS wires up to the main wiring harness. Somewhere around the top of the airbox is a black and a black with a yellow tracer. Connect those together.

I have them connected together and still nothing. I'll give er another look over when I get home. What is the air fuel mixture screw suppose to be set at? 5/8 of a turn out off being litghtly seated?

Alright so I grabbed a compression tester from my Matco dealer (last time I used an old one that my neighbour said worked) and I had 90 psi on one cylinder and 85 on the other. Pulled the head and lungs off the motor and the rings were stuck in the pistons. I'm going to get new rings, should I be getting new pistons too?

Alright I was able to get er going, runs mint. Other question, well a skid off a 93 phazer fit on a 91 exciter?
