even though i was quite a bit under the weather, a great time was had by all. bill & kelly preisman from haulin assets were nice enough to take us under their wing and into their home for another trip that will leave lasting memories. bill knows the back country of the eastern U>P, like no other person i have ever met. kelly is a mother hen that takes better care of us than our own mothers. she makes some killer wild blueberry pancakes that leave you begging for more even when your stuffed to the gills. although bill was dissapointed with the rough condition of some of the trails, it really wasnt as bad as it could have been. i really feel sorry for all the people that only know trails to ride on when the weather gets warm, the traffic gets high and the trails are beat to death. we rode the trail for less than a mile in most cases. rode back country the rest of the time. and as said above we had a great time. lynne had her bikini out while it was warm during a mid day break. we were going to play a trick on jerry at the hot dog stand south of grand marais with the bikini clad vixen, but alas good taste won out over a good laugh, as there were many young children present and we didnt want to corrupt them at such a tender age. if you are in the area make sure to stop at the stand buy a few dogs, some of his homemade salsa or jam it is fabulous. he donates all the proceeds from his stand sales to the special olympics. truely a generous group we have been introduced to. randy my friend, thanks to you, your family, and friends for letting us gain a new respect for riding the central eastern U.P with you. i know i speak for chris and lynne when we say, i hope we can repay you, bill, kelly and the rest of the gang in some way shape or form. it truely is a priviledge to call you all friends. ski

Larry that's not me in the fourth picture its a friend Charlie, I was recovering from a monster stuck over by Clear Creek just before those pics was taken.
The snow is good in the woods but the trails are hit hard & there was a ton of sleds headed north yesterday, GM was calling for 4" last night & they need it.

I would wait till the weekend or you just may end up riding in mud.
So much for breaking in big red easy, The ol girl did pretty good but the snow was slop in some areas & I was geared a bit tall for the low speed rippin we did & it cost me a couple belts down in the creek bottom. He who is tuned for the days conditions wins & Ski was the man out on the big end of the airport on saturday. I need to figure out how to run my TempaFlow again with my carb venting the way it is. Larry you missed a real good ride but there is nothing wrong with spending time with the family!

i'll find a "jammed" picture for yous. i need to say a great big thanks to the big purple one. grape, thanks for taken care of business this weekend. you truely are a good riding partner and a great friend. guys, grape got a last minute call friday afternoon, dropped everything, put his life on hold including his very understanding fiance' (sorry tracy, i know you hate me, how do you like me now? LOL!) drove up and back, no complaints, i was fightin a cold and was about 50% capacity on the lungs. chris and lynne made the executive decision to take me home early v.s ride a portion of the day and then drive home. i would have stayed to ride and then paid for it by getting even sicker (if that was possible) i slept alot of the way home, guess i needed it. nice to have folks look out for you even if it means they dont get to ride the last day in camp. big thanks! ski

we were riding totally offtrail with a guide. i doubt the real trail system will recover before this weekend, after the beating it took last week with weather and traffic. we were all very suprized to see the amount of sleds going north on sunday when we were comming home. all the cities trails in and out of town for gas, were mud and dirt with NO SNOW on it for miles. once you're on the trails they are alittle snirty and very rough. the groomers do more damage than good when it is above freezing so they really dont send them out. it will take more than a few inches of snow to set the system straight again. i dont want to discourage you but, i dont want to steer you wrong either. pual, i know you are driving along way for this trip. the best i can tell you is do as much research as you can and make a decision, if the conditions will be good enough for you. hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. the TY rides are mostly for commeraderie and the riding is just a bonus. you will have fun with the group. just not so sure on how the trails will be for you. good luck to all of you. ski

Poor Flounder, He says he just had the best ride of his life & none of his friends believe him. There is no doubt that Lynne ruined the poor guy for ever & he said it adds new meaning to riding in the U.P. He also said he was so shook up after that he thought he was going to end up hitting a tree

Riding back to St. Ignace
Eric, it was good to see you Saturday night. Bushman, Grapeape, and others, it was nice to meet you.
Believe it or not guys, the ride back to St. Ignace was not that bad. Newman hit a post coming out of Grand Marais and bent his A Arm and nun, but the sled was still ridable. We hit a 25 mile section south of Seney that was mostly mud with some snirt mixed in, but the rest of the ride was OK. The closer we got to St. Ignace, the better the trails got! Nobody had ridden them, so they were not torn up.
Here are a few pics of Sunday's ride back.
1st one is near Rexton, 2nd one is about 15 miles out of St. Ignace (we actually passed the groomer between the Cut River and St. Ignace):
