I just restored my 80 Exciter and replaced all the rubber internals of the pump available. After running it a few times last winter oil is leaking badly around the speedo cable that screws into the oil pump

I tightened the nut with pliers but don't want to break it
Anyone have a fix for this. Was there an o ring up inside the nut. Would a oil resistant silicone work ?
Any thoughts ?
Thanks

I looked up the speedo gear parts break down and didn't see this seal ? Mine is leaking above the nut Between the top of the nut and speedo cable sheath.

I have the same problem on my 93 Phazer ST, however do not see a seal on the pump assembly that would stop this leak?
Any suggestions?

Also check to make sure the shaft and /or bushing under the seal is not wore, you may need to replace all three, hopefully not but you better check it out..

For sure. Thought about a worn shaft, as I am pretty sure I replaced that seal last year during the resto. Will pull it all apart again
Thanks
