I pulled the suspension on my 2002 vmax. Plan on reinstalling this weekend. I read the tech pages and I am not exactly sure what the control arms are. Is this the arm that connects to the sliders (bolt tucked in behind the 7" rear wheel)? If so, is this the bolt you remove?
Many thanks
Rodney
I put this suspension in a few years ago and struggled. I am hopeful that removing the pre load will make the job easier.

The rods your referring to are called transfer rods for weight transfer and yes the bolt is tucked in behind the rear axle idler. The easiest way to put the skid in is to do the front mount first, rear second and then the middle, just make sure the centre mount bracket doesn't flip upside down on you while your bolting up the others. It's happened to me and I ended up taking the rear bolts back out in order to get the bracket flipped back over. Now the rear transfer rods have 2 parts to them and the top rod slides through the lower with a bolt on the bottom of the top rod. That may sound confusing but once you look at it you'll see what I'm talking about. The bolt has a 14mm head on it if I remember right.Anyway to make life easier loosen both of those bolts off,one on each side, and it'll allow the skid to open up more and be easier to slide into place.
