I purchased a 7.5 inch 36 watt led bar and trying to find a place to get DC power from. I have a 97 vmax sx. if anyone has done this or can help it would be much appreciated. I have a wiring kit with toggle switch and fuses, also know how to cut splice and solder if necessary. here is the add for the light https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CL0ZPUC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did the same thing with my sled a few weeks ago. I don't have e start or a battery, so I bought a ac to dc converter off of eBay ($50) and spliced and soldered it into the high beam wiring. I wanted to retain the stock low beam light so I'm not blinding everyone coming at me. This way the high/low switch still works. I clipped the high beam wire leading to the stock bulb/harness so it frees up some power for the light bar in the high position. I can take more pictures this weekend of the wiring if you'd like. These are just some pics of the final mounted product and showing how the low/high function looks.

you could pick up the power for the battery charging part of the circuit. look for a triangle plug in the harness by the coolant neck. It has the key/charge/ground wires for the e-start in there. When I pulled my e-start it took me a little while to figure out what I was really removing. Then you could run it to an accessory switch.

Are there any detailed instructions on how to run it off a battery? How would you hook your battery up? My sxr currently doesnt have a battery or elec start. I would love to do this.

The wire that would run the "Back up alarm" is a clean DC wire that runs through the rectifier in the sled. Look at the scematic for the back up alarm. It runs on the right side of the fuel tank. Its easy to find if your multi meter is set to DC.
