We got an unexpected 6" of snow last night, so I took advantage of it and rode for a few hours tonight.
In the off season, I installed a Boss seat and bar risers on my Venture. I like it, but I have a few bugs to work out. The first is a flashing red light on the instrument panel. Looking at the service manual, it's supposedly "Discontinuity of a variable resistor of the grip heater. The front grip and thumb warmers do work, but I disconnected the passenger grip heaters with the Boss seat. Anybody else run into this?
The second bugs seems to be throttle cable related. I went into a dead end trail, and to get out, when I went into reverse and full lock on the handlebars, the TORS activated. I'll double check my routing or get a throttle cable extender. I'm only using 3" risers.
Other than those issues, the sled ran great. I now have half as many hours this season as I had all of last season. Woo hoo!

I had a problem with a code like that for a year. I could never figure out why my thumb was getting so e'ffing hot then i finally tested my rheostats with a meter and the thumb warmer was at full on. it had shorted and turning the knob didn't do anything anymore. What is the code and I can look it up and tell you which one it is. 3" is about the max you can go. Did you just add a block riser or install some kind of double pivot setup? The best solution for cable routing is to get an oem viper mountain cable which doesn't have the hard 90 at the carbs and go through the slot in the air box with it and the oil cable. Those are older pics but you get the idea. I had aftermarket cables and they sucked. There was a huge increase in pull effort and the oil cable adjustment was very ambiguous. I always felt like i was just "guessing" and never really got it right, just close. I had it like that for 100 miles then said lets get creative and find a way to put a stock cable on.
Backwoods,
Thanks for the information. I have a service manual and looked up the code. It's for a variable resistor. Both ride grip and thumb warmers get hot, but they also turn off.
I have a double pivot riser, but it's only 3". When I adjusted them, I didn't go as high as I wanted so the throttle cable wasn't stretched, guess I was wrong. I plan to get a longer cable because I would like to raise the bars the full 3".
