Hi All, Newbie (to the forum) here.
Just got back into snowmobiling (long over due) as I bought an 82 Yamaha Enticer late in the summer (family used to have an 83 - great machines). Cleaned it up and did some body work on the belly pan. Was running great as I started it up many times before cold and snow finally hit. Took it out for a test run first chance I got and it ran great for a few hours, then died on me - bogging out and smoking - so I did a compression test like I did before I bought it (was decent then) and both cylinders went to 90 psi.
I'm going to fully rebuild this motor in the spring/summer. In the mean time I bought a rebuilt 78 (340 Enticer) motor for it and it came with clutch, carb, wiring and more. I am in the process of getting it started after some modifications (mostly wiring/CDI box) and wanted to get a manual for it. I found a pdf service manual online for an 83 (which is close to the 82) for the 82, but can't find one for the 78.
I'm sure most of the data from the 83 manual is helpful, but wouldn't mind some accuracy (and confirm the spark plug type). Can anyone direct me to a 78 service manual or send me one?
If I have any real problems getting this machine going, I'll probably post for help on it. I actually just started it up today and couldn't keep it running good - then noticed the oil injection lines (some new) were empty. I'll bypass the pump and lines and mix the oil in the fuel tomorrow instead and see if this is my problem. If it is, I'll go about this avenue for the winter until it's time to put the original motor back in it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
