2001 vmax 600 deluxe tach probably, battery problem HELP!!

I bought a 2001 vmax 600 deluxe at the end of last season everything worked on it when I put it in the trailer. Problem, tried starting it and it wouldn't turn over,so hooked it to my jump box,turned over fired up and runs great..but no tachometer, but the gas guage works. Shut it off still battery didn't charge. So what could it be? Does it just need a battery? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

some electrical systems use the battery and a smoothing condenser. i would try with a good battery and see what happens.

The output of the magneto won't charge a dead battery. If you can slow charge it on the bench it might come back. Are the headlights coming on? The load control relay activates the dash and turns on the headlight after it starts. If it's just no tach you might have some rust on the flywheel magnets but they generally won't run if that's the case.
