I just picked up my first sled in about 30yrs. When I was a teenage we had an old 1972 snow jet with a Yamaha 340 engine in it. My first sled is now a 2000 sxr 700. Just picked it up on Saturday night. Took it out for my first ride tonight, runs good only issue I see is oil light staying on. Seems to go off if I wind it out but then comes back on. Going to check wiring and sensor.

Need to order a few small parts, front louvers, seat cover, overflow cap. But otherwise sled seems decent to me. I could be interested in a 2 up seat if anyone had one laying around.

Will see how I like sledding and maybe upgrade in a couple years.

So today I went out into shop to light the fire, grab the snow blower and do the yard. After reading a few posts I decided I would open up the bar pad and sure enough right full of a mouse nest, seed storage, poop, piles of nest materials. And ya the wires all chewed to hell. I'll have my work cut out trying to figure out replacements of all the wires. I noticed the grips not warming up but the throttle was hot as all hell, high beam didn't work but thought it might have been bulb. Now after I get all this mess cleaned up will see what work and doesn't work.

You might be able to find a wire harness online to replace your wires. Saves a lot of time. I had the same thing on the viper I got over the summer but the wires were I good shape yet.
