I noticed while removing the driveshaft the bearing set screws were loose. Where should the driveshaft be before tightening th bearing set screws? There is a rub mark on the inside of my chaincase from the axle bolt. Thanks

I align and tighten chain case side then set the drive bearing set screws!

Yes tighten chaincase all up first then use locktight on the bottom gear bolt, let it dry overnight before adding gearlube .

I do what they said, put the axle in,get the chaincase side through the seal and bolt the case back to the chassis. As for the axle I usually shove it to the chain case side as far as possible and tighten up the setscrews. Use a dab of blue loctite on those setscrews or they will most likely back out on you. If you can find it use purple loctite, it's for smaller fasteners than 1/4" but blue will work .
