98 Vmax SX Oil Tank - What other years will fit?

I have a 98 Vmax SX with a crack about two inches down from the top. What other Vmax sled years will fit my sled?

I think 98-03 used the same tank, vmax, sxr, venture. 97 should also fit but I think it was a little smaller.

I found the leak, it was the oil sensor cap is lose fitting in the tank. Suggestions how to fix it?

Had the samething happen on my yamaha outboard's oil reservoir. I Theroughly cleaned all mating surfaces with brake cleaner, squeezed some Ultra Copper RTV in the groove of the rubber cap were the plastic rim inserts. Then reassembled. Let cure for 24 hrs in a warm area. Never had a leak since.

Make sure you don't contaminate your oil with brake cleaner or excess RTV!

Good idea. I thought about a rubber cover sleeve over the part the plugs into the tank.
