Rpm gauge not working

Hey guys

i picked up a 99 venture 700 with the rpm not working. Tried another gauge but not the problem. Does anyone know where I can troubleshoot to get this working? Thanks

When I removed the battery from my 2000 700 Venture I loose my tachometer. When I reinstall it, tach works.
If not that, mite be broken / damaged wire or loose connecter . A multimeter works awsome to verify continuity in circuits.

Wow ok well the battery is toast on the venture so it's a good reason why it don't work . I'll have to get one and try it and hopefully that's what's going on

Why would the ventures be this way when it works without a battery on the sxr and mountain max?
