So went to change brake pads out. Got caliper off and notices I can wiggle the brake disc side to side quite a bit. Is this normal or is something broke or worn out? Looks like the disc to hub is tight but wiggles on the jack shaft? Any ideas or normal? Looks to have 2 shims between hub and jack shaft flange

When I go front to back with it I have about 1/4in play and the shaft doesn't move so it's not the chain just loose. But the side to side movement is concerning.or is it just me?It has a different track on it so maybe someone forgot a spacer between the disc and chain case? Is the top gear what tightens this all up? Also when I look at the parts diagram for the pads it shows 2 shims per side between the pads. I didn't have any in there when I took it apart. Are these needed or no? I bought oem pads

When I tried pullin the secondary clutch in and out I don't feel excessive slop and when I put it all the way in or out the brake disc feels the same.

There is a jack shaft bearing behind the secondary with two
Set screws. Make sure they are tight. A
Little Side to side play is normal from what I've seen.

It almost seems like the key way in the disc is only half way in or half the size it's supposed to be. Looks like chain case is probably coming apart to see

by looking at the exploded parts diagram looks like the circlip and washer are on the chain side of disc and nothing on the clutch side of disc. looking down at my sled i can see 2 washers or spacers on the clutch side of disc. I think whoever put the new track on may have these on the wrong side of disc.

no, they are on or towards the clutch side of the shaft, the circlip and washer keep the brake disc from being able to walk towards the inside of the frame. It is held on the shaft via a large spacer with a o-ring inside it that fits into the back of the chaincase. These rotors will get loose over time on the keyways and sometimes youll hear a clunking noise at low speeds... that will be the hub on the rotor. They are steel and get sloppy. I have replaced them in the past with bender aluminum hubs and worked well or I have removed the rotor/hub and used a automatic center punch to go over the keyway area and let the punch shrink the clearance of the keyway to tighten it back up. You can obviously just replace the rotor assembly as well with either a aftermarket unit(lighter) or a new Yamaha unit.

Does anyone still make an aftermarket lightweight rotor/ hub assembly?

Thanks mr. Viper. Sounds like you've seen exactly what I've got going on. Think I'll just let it go for now and fix later when I do the bearings

The key is most likely wore too. They're available from Yamaha or you can buy a piece of 7mm square keystock and make your own. That way you'll have lots for the next time it gets loose.
