We have a 2000 SRX700 and want to add estart. Looking for confirmation before I jump in and buy parts. I searched the forum and found posts about adding electric start. There is also a TY Tech pdf but it is not specific to SRX. SRX parts schematics do not show estart or give a part number. One dealer said it was not an option, another said the part 8DS-W8180-20-KT that would work is discontinued and unavailable. He would not advise which starter kit from another model sled would work. It appears it can be done but it is a tight fit. Looks to me like the ring gear and starter will bolt right on. It may require modification of the battery tray or re-location of the tray to the L side front by shock which also means adjusting the length of the wiring harness. Sled has the spring ignition switch on it. Can someone with an SRX who has done this modification confirm:
1. They did it and it worked.
2. What specific starter kit was used or from what sled parts were obtained (I was told one off a Viper or any proaction sled with estart will work)
3. Other advice/info on installing.
Thanks for the help, want to stop pulling this monster.

Check the thread in the builds section. Musselmans build. He does it with viper parts. Only part you need to modify is the motor mount. The SRX mount needs to be cut to fit the starter motor. Everything else is pretty much standard. SRX battery placement might pose a challenge. He covers that with two possible locations based on your pipes.

Thanks, that thread and build is incredible. There was a picture of where he mounted the battery up front on L side. He had aftermarket pipes and said it would fit in the normal spot on right side but the reverse kit and other mods made relocation necessary. Sounded like the stock pipes prevent fitting the battery in std spot. I have aftermarket, so I will just have to find a spot if it won't fit in the std spot under the pipes. I will find out in the spring when we get into it. We already had some riding time this year but it all melted, praying for more snow.
