I have a 99 VMax Deluxe, and I need to replace my driveshaft.

Looking at the parts diagram, I see that there is a driveshaft collar (as highlighted in the box labeled 8DY1.)

Apparently, it was used on the 700 but not the 600. My 2001 SXR 600 also has this part.

What is the function of this part? I'm guessing it makes things sturdier?

I could probably go ahead and put one on the VMax 600 and make things a little better?

none of the 4 proaction sleds we have has that coller. isnt one on my 2 spare driveshafts either.

There's one on my driveshaft. It came off a 99 deluxe I parted out. Sitting in my garage if you need a pic.

I need a new drive shaft if you want to sell yours Hammer Down. If it's in good shape, let me know. Thanks.

Also, the 700 has the 8BW-47531-00-00 inner cog wheel and the 8BW-47532-10-00 outer cog wheel. On the 600, all the numbers were the same except they started with 8CM instead of 8BW.

Again, on my 2001 SXR600, both of them are 8BW's like the 700 in the 1999 VMax's.

Are they stronger, thicker?
