On deceleration there is a very evident whine and a slight engine braking feel.

The sled does have reverse. I've read that the dog leg in the chain can cause this sound or too much chain tension. The sled is new to us and we did inspect the chain case, clean, refill. The tension was set hand tight. I've heard some guys go hand tight and then back off a quarter turn or too?

Any other ideas or is this normal?

The only time I hear mine "whine" like a higher pitch, is when I use my brakes. Possibly look into a sticking brake caliper.
Also, never hurts to pop your cover and inspect/clean and refill the chain case oil. I normally hand tighten my chain until I feel resistance and back it off a slight turn and lock it down.

That sound is your buddy on the Polaris behind you. You only hear it when you slow down as he's catching up.
