Arctic cat just sold to Textron, I wonder if textron will keep using Yamaha engines?

hmmm. looks like the company has quite a bit of tech to back them up. might see some interesting sleds in the future.

Rumour is yamaha was outbidded by textron(other rumour is yamaha saw it as a bad investment)..Even if yamaha did try to take over Arctic cat it would be shutdown by regulator laws in the US.Justice dept, skidoo trying to buy polaris http://www.snowmobile.com/events/snowmobile-sales-leaders-through-the-years-1525.html .The company was bleeding money and had no choice. This maybe better for cat in the short term but this is the same company that dump polaris in the early 1980s.Its yamahas next move now...out or in....2018 model year will be the tell of the tape.

I dont think 2018 will tell the story, those sleds are already done and waiting. It will be interesting though

Very true but Textron has a history of dumping companys that don,t turn profit(Cats been in the red for a while, pride is the only thing keeping them going). No doubt its the SXS part of the company that got there attention but the atv/snowmobile arm is not looking good in the future for more market share(BRP owns close to 50% of snowmobile market share, next is Polaris at 30%,not much left to grow?).ATVs?That market is shrinking due to SXS growing in popularity. If they dump the sled division due to no profit return where does this leave Yamaha co-brand/engine deal?

arctic cat should be making a fortune on parts alone! lol Yamaha needs to come out with a 2 stroke. they need to keep up with everyone else!

I highly doubt we're gonna see a new 2 stroke Yamaha sled again but it would be awesome to! Something like an 850 to 900 twin with killer technology. I wonder if Yamaha will just quit making sleds. I ride an '03 SXViper Mountain and would like to try a Sidewinder and a turbo'd SRViper but I won't be buying a new one anytime real soon and I doubt I'll be buying a used one anytime real soon either. Where I ride all's you basically see anymore are Doo's, Poo's, some Cats, and very few Yam's. Your more likely to see an old Phazer or Mountain Max ... then the occasional Nytro or maybe Apex but seen very few new Vipers and no Sidewinders yet.
