I have an 87 exciter that is not running correctly at idle and the very low end. When i lift the fuel enrichment plunger with the engine warm on the PTO side the engine dies down as it should. When i repeat on the Mag side it speeds up. The carbs are clean and correct. I have switched the PTO/MAG carbs and the problem stays on the MAG side. Any ideas before i split the case and change the crank seals?

Thanks Throttle Junkie. It sure acts like a leaking mag side seal. I guess i will have to rip into it. Another question for you has anyone come up with any good method of removing the drive shaft collars/set screw? Also i believe i had read that you really don't even need the idler wheels on the outside so if that is the case why even bother putting the collar back on?
