Air filter repair? Anyone figure out a solution for the frame/sponge

I got some filtering foam for a fish tank to repair the on the air box air filter. A number of ribs of the plastic are broken. I was going to glue gun the foam around the frame but the ribs not too good. Parts are way to expensive for what it is. it looks like this but with land cost being way to high I need to do something. I just did another one of these last weekend. If the ribs are all there you can melt them back together. I used a cheap $20 plastic welder I got from menards but you can also use a soldering iron or heat up a screw driver.
