it definetely looks less grayish now that I've had them out for a few minutes, the little bumps of stuff around the rim and on the curve of the end tab looked like they almost had a grayish tinge in the beginning... These are not freshly burned plugs, I ran the sled 2 weeks ago and it has been sitting in my shop at 55 degrees since. I was pulling them just to see what they looked like and I'm going to try to change my needles for the first time ever to hopefully keep my egts from spiking at 5.5-7k rpm.

how did you kill the motor when you took these plugs out? look rich, but that could be from idling. if you want to see how each carb circuit is running this is what i do:
get out on a lake, take note of the temperature. then run the sled at half throttle for 1000ft or more, kill the engine while holding the throttle in the same position and coast to a stop. then pull the plugs and take pictures. repeat this for wot too.

Ya i've checked mine that way normally, last time the sled was hauled home from the mountain and then started and driven into the shop so it would have idle time to make it look rich. I was just concerned about the lumpy grayish stuff but its likely from idling then trailering then idling some more then sitting. I'll clean them and adjust my needles now then check them again. I am likely rich at idle but I'm not rich any other place in the rpm range according to my egts.

Any additives in your fuel? I've seen formations like that on plugs from an engine sitting a few days with additives in the fuel.

there actually might be on that tank, I forgot but I did use a stabilizer or something when I filled before last ride.

So I got my needles out, they are in the top position which I take to mean the leanest position. I know I want to raise the needle but I'm not sure how much to do. my egts will climb quite rapidly if I hold it in midrange, I've never held it to see how high they would go but they go to 1400 quickly I just have been avoiding those rpms which is fairly easy with my style of riding.
Will one position do alot or should I do 2?

So I had clip in top slot washers under. So you are saying mag and center go to 2nd down slot leave washers under and pto go to 3rd slot washers above?
