Hello all I just took my chain case cover off my 97 Vmax 600 XTC with reverse, and cleaned everything inside with brake cleaner and would like to know where the oil should read on the dipstick? My dipstick has a "REVERSE" line, which is lower on the dipstick, and then on the other side of the dipstick, higher up it say's "STD" on one side of the stick. Where should my oil level be? My snowmobile has reverse and I wasn't sure if that's the line I should use, or should I go with the higher mark on the other side of the dipstick which would use more oil. I used Royal Purple w75-w90 Synthetic gear oil.
I would just like to thank everyone on this forum for all your help on all my posts. I can't wait to use this snowmobile. I still have to change out the coolant, I bought Evans waterless engine coolant.

If the reverse gears are in it go with the lower line marked "Reverse".
Thank you Ding for the answer.

The reverse side is lower because they set up both cases to hold the same amount of oil instead of the larger reverse case taking more oil.
