Im new to this so i hope im in the right spot

Any body know if a kimpex 10-227y
Will fit a 96 Yamaha vmax 600
I have a conection on about 30 of em all new unused for about $2.00 each
If any body knows if they will work let me know
I will let a bunch go for what I paid but i must purchase the lot of em to even get a couple for my self

Also does anyone know what other belts will fit
Thanks in advance

Ok got that belt A couple of bucks.

It now lacks take off frome a dead stop
Seems to shift out and rev up ok
And that belt finaly got rid of the notorious belt squeal.

Top end great mid range very good
But no take off it does feel a bit boggin but catches fast and rockets

Ive had no performance issues at all jus a belt squeal.

It has a comet clutch
Any ideas
I do belive its a clutch or belt issue because it had absolutely zero issues othe than a squeal at a stop
C
Maybe loosing or tightening the belt with the 3 washers on back of the secondary.?????

Hello im new to this site but not Yamaha sleds

I had a belt squeal issues
Finaly got a belt that stoped the squeal
I've tried absolutely everything even the waser thing on the back of the clutch

I even had it in 3 different shops

Finaly a Carlisle belt solved the sqeal issue
But now i have no take off
It took off like a bat out of hell befor the new belt.

It revs ok i think
It will take off gret after abou 1 or 2 seconds after take off
It does not matter how much throttle i give its the same
Top end and mid very very good and crisp

Any suggestion on my issue would be great
Could maybe making it a vit looser or tighter help my issue
If so how to tell wich way to go???

Also could the wrong belt cause this

What are all the belts for this sled it has a comet clutch i belive its a factory option but maybe not
Please help im in luzerne michigan and the weather is not going to last long

Thanks ive tried that belt
To wide
It has a comet clutch i belive its not exatly the proper one
It has a part number for a Polaris
Im not sure if its the same foe a Yamaha
I basicly have a squeal issue ive tried every thing even the washers on the back of the clutch.

I am Hopful to find another belt that will work with some adjustments.

Is 2 buck a good price for the kimpex belts
Im going to buy em just to give away when someone is in need

But im at a loss on my sled it squels and runs great. Or no squeal and no take off.
It will go through a belt in like 150 to 200 miles when it squeals
Only belt that dont squeal is the Carlisle(138-4432U4)belt just got the other member suggested on this post

Dealer saidd everything is in spec except the comet clutch not a exat match for my sled
Only the part number is wrong everthing else checks out down to the spacer and all springs

Take your secondary apart, there is a plate held in place with 3 screws, remove the screws, flip the plate over, you get dimples worn in the plate over time, you also will probably need to replace the 3 bolts on the back of the secondary because the tips wear off and it won't spread the secondary apart far enough to drop the belt down. If that doesn't stop the belt squeal you will have to loosen up the motor and slide it back a hair.

Tried that too.
But not sliding the motor back
What about a thiner belt?
What about longer bolts with more spacers?
Thoes kimpex belts will go on but slightly shorter and a little thinner from what I read.

Could it be a issue with the arms springs or something else
Im not really tring to buy a new clutch but if i do
What othe ones are a direct bolt on
Both primary and secondary?

Ive also heard or some othe make clutches boltin directly on
Maybe someone knows
Polaris p85?
Artic cat
Where i live these parts are hard to find off the same sled
I dont use ebay been ripped off to many times with broke or wrong parts from misleading adds

Will the clutches from a vmax 500 fit

Also when i break hard i hear and feel a clunking from voth sides clutch side and chain case side
Could my problem be with the chain or gears
If i spin my clutch bacwards i feel it clicking in the chain case its hard to explian exatly what im talking about othe than a clunking on break lock up?????
I dont think the belt slips i think its to tight will to tight a belt cause a lack of take off
What rpm is best for engagement after take off
Is it beter for the belt to slip just a bit
Deflection is dead on acording to my local dealers.
Matbe time for a new dealer

On a nother note i can ride the trails
To my local dealer in st Helen michigan
They cant figur it out
Other than let it squeal
But it eventually smokes the belts
Ive spent about 300$ on new and used belts
Maybe the dealer is retarded or lame on a 96Yamaha vmax.

Anybody from mio or Lewiston michigan area??

Any suggestion on who i can take my sled to aroun the zip 48636 in luzerne mi or within a 30 min to 1 hour ride by sled or tuck

The dealers are killing me with very high pricing
Id think a person with a shop ay home or on the side may be a bettr xhoice as they probably have more time a patience to help me figure this out.
Maybe they even had similar experiences or even have parts laying around

I can just ride it like it is i think but i dont wanba grenade it and twistva crank or even buy more belts to just smoke em out over and over

We put a brand new 8dn belt on my old 96 vmax 600 this year and it worked great. You might want to check the center to center on the clutches and see if it is within spec. If the carlisle belt is longer it would make it seem like it takes off in a higher gear. Check the 3 bolts on the back of the secondary for wear. If they wear down it won't open the secondary like it should. I put a comet on mine for a while and the primary spring broke in it so check that also. Where was the belt riding on the secondary?

Got the issue fixed
Runs great still a bit slow on take off but it has more top end.

I ride the trails so its not a problem

I took it to a guy in Lewiston mi
He found the smallest piece of belt cord in between the secondary spacer(i think thats what he said)
He said after about 50 to 100 miles on the new belt it shoud break in and bottom end should improve a bit.

So i belive the belt is actualy a bit shorter and thinner.

I had a small peice of belt cord stuck in the secondary that was preventing it from closing all the way.
Its a lill better on take off top end is greatly improved.
On the lake top end was like 95mph with old belt
Now its like 115mph at 8700 rpm

I know the spedo is a bit inaccurate but i can fel the mid and top improvements

I was told after the belt breaks in a bit i will get some bottom back

Almost wondering if its anothe issue causing it to not launch like it was
??????????????
