jimbo, how about the trail riding crowd? I think the lineup looks fine, but my father is upset that they are only shooting for the younger crowd. his consistent argument is what sled would I put my wife on and go out and make it a family sport? so I pass on the question, which one is the family oriented sled and why? thanks, and keep in mind, GREAT JOB from yamaha this year! excellent start in the right direction! and ditch the windshields, the tall ones are shaped goofy and the low ones look weird and promote frostbite (just had frostbite a few weeks back, not again...) thanks again!!

I honestly think you could put a windshield on any of them and anyone would ride them. I'll bet that the production models will either be standard with a higher windshield or at least have the option.

like I said, I like em, just asking a question for dad. he thinks there is too much weight put into the whole snocross ditchbang thing. where I ride, there are no ditches to run, so why?? I am in NH, ride in northern NH (pittsburg) so always groomed :)

That's actually pretty easy, one of the Vector models or a Rage should fit the ticket quite nicely from my experience and what I read about the northern NH (pittsburg) trails. ;)!

I'll give you a better reading on the '06 models next week.

The Vector and regular Apex seem to be built for "trail riders", I noticed the RS Rage still has the low seat also. I DO think the taller seat will be more comfortable though, less bend your knees and waist!

less bend if you are tall, I am 5'-9" and am the tallest in my family by a few inches :( dad has a vector and LOVES it, but mom wants less power. just an observation.... :) I want either an apex gt if I like the new ergos or a vector GT if I dont :)

Taller Seat?

Does this mean higher center of gravity and more prone to tip??

no, the wider front end keeps that flat. dads vector sits a lot higher than my 03 viper, but I think the vector corners harder and flatter...... :)

Wider

I think the spread may be less than 1/2" on front stance. Not that much to keep one sled running flat and another prone to tipping.

either way, dads vector corners as hard if not harder. just a better front end design and chassis I guess. just saying what I know from riding both :)

I really like the Nytro windshield thats my favorite one, I just like the one circle curve to it. The Apex RTX has to many cuts in the windshield, its to much for me.
Hey Eric when did you get frost bite 2 weeks ago? Where did you get it hands? It great not having cold feet this year lol I learned my lesson from last year. Couple weeks ago I rode in -15 with just regular socks it was great :WayCool:

I think yamaha is really thinking with all of the new sleds they are coming out with. They seem to be doing a great job. I might have a chance shortly to ride one of these sleds. I think they are doing test rides all this weekend but we might have called in to late. :(

I got the frostbite on my face, I drove friends 98 mxz 583 with the stock windshield. it was pretty scary looking, bubbling pussing hard mass on the cheek makes you long for it to NEVER happen again lol. was fine on my 03 with stock height though :) took all of a 10 minute ride on it to get it too! I was shocked how quickly it happened and how it never hurt!
