My buddy just bought a 99 sx vmax 700 with PSI triple pipes on it, sled is in really good shape with with 4200 miles on it. First thing he did was pull the carbs to clean them, they were nasty! Check the main jets and the were 128, seems kind of a low main for having pipes on it, any thoughts?

You should be running 142.5 s across the board. for running here in Michigan! with those pipes!

He may have bumped the pilots up or needles to compensate.

Doesn't sound right, pipes usually require in the range of 147.5-150 main jets

I loved my SX with the PSI pipes---I would have to dig out my paper work to see what I was running for jets---I know it was what PSI recommended-- my redhead was spinning at 9200 RPM's for many years--sounded great....Tod

When we put the PSIs on my sons redhead, I believe we just dropped the needles to ??? to get good plug color.

with the stock pilots you need to be at 3 turns out on the fuel screws, needles set at the 3rd pos on pto and 4th pos on the other two, mains should be 142.5 across the board!
