Hi all, Im getting back into snowmobiling after many years away. We are finally getting some snow where I live, and its given me the itch again!

Use to have a 1997 700 SX, but it got wrecked in 98, and haven't had a sled since.
I recently picked up a 1998 700 SX, and I can wait to get started on it.
Any differences between a 97 and 98 ?
And any advice on performance mods ?
My buddy has a set of SLP triple pipes he wants to sell me.

Not much different between the two, 97's used double ball bearings on the crank, 98's had one wide roller bearing, graphics, 98's had the plastic idler wheels, 97's were aluminum, 98's had the beefed up ski spindle, there are other little things that I've noticed bot nothing major. there are all kinds of mods you can do, remove one layer of the head gasket for more compression, notch the reed stoppers, porting, clutching, big bore top end, triple pipes, clutching, lots of things you can do, depends on how much time and $ you want to spend on it. Just adding the triple pipes would be the easiest and cheapest way to make some good power, I think most triple pipes will give you about another 25hp. I've got a 97, I did the reed stopper notch, plastic skis, adjustable transfer rods, a 1" track, and ohlins front shocks, these things really helped it hook up and handle great, and has good power for a mostly stock sled.

I think i'm gonna get the slp pipes
What is the reed stopper notch ?
Same as the reed spacer? If not which is better ?
Also, how about the big bore, which one is a good kit ?
I need to beat my buddies 800XC !!
