How to change headlight and tail light from AC to DC voltage

I would like to put a LED headlight and tail light bulb in my 2001 Venture 500F and I just found out the hard way that I have AC voltage at my lights I did not know hooked up my new LED headlight and it blew out in 5 minutes when testing the voltage I had at idle around 20 Volts AC at my headlight and tail light Not sure why they would do this on a sled with a battery. Anyone know how I can change my lighting current to DC voltage?

this would be a good question for rock.....it may be as simple as a bridge rectifier to change the ac to dc---- but Im not the master---

I do not know who Rock is but I really love to figure this out I really like to have LED lighting.

bridge rectifier and inline capacitor.
